FAMILY PHOTOS IN ASHBURN, VIRGINIA BY A FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER IN VIRGINIA
It was a sunny Saturday morning when I met this beautiful family at The Barn at One Loudoun. This location in Ashburn, Virginia is quickly becoming one of my favorite locations for photo shoots because it has a lot of things like the bridge, the fence, and the greenery that look really great on pictures. If you remember, last month I shared about a milestone session I did there.
Dressed in coordinating outfits, everyone was in a great mood when they arrived. Even the kids. Before their family session started and in between breaks, G, the toddler, and I talked about their recent trip to Disney.
While planning, K, the mom, has told me she wanted more interactive pictures of their family. So during our family session, I gave them very little guidance. I let the kids do what they want to do. When M, the baby, wanted to crawl out of the blanket she was supposed to sit at, I let her. When B, the dad, wanted to play with the girls while throwing them in the air, I encouraged them. And while all these were happening, I was just at the background not only quietly capturing their photos but also freezing these moments for them.
As a mom, I love candid shots of me and my family. Yes, I love those photos where everyone was looking at the camera and smiling. But I really find myself drawn more towards those that are interactive because they remind me of how much fun we’re having right at that moment. As a photographer, K’s request was a dream! Of course, I love taking posed photos for my clients. But these candid, interactive shots are what fuels me. These impromptu photos tell you so much about that specific moment and is one of the reasons why I love photographing families.
K – Thank you for letting me freeze this stage of your lives! Thank you for giving me a glimpse into your life and reminding me that family is everything! It was an honor photographing your beautiful family! I had such a great time spending time with your family & chatting with G about her recent adventures. I can’t wait for our next session! 🙂
