Welcoming a newborn into the family is one of life’s most precious moments, and capturing those moments in photographs is a wonderful way to preserve those memories forever. Recently, I had the pleasure of doing an in home newborn photography session for a family of four in Centreville, Virginia.

Earlier this month, I had the honor of doing lifestyle family photos for A & C for an exciting adventure they are about to take. While planning for their photos, we made sure we prepped for a variety of activities for them to do so that we are able to document this phase of life they are in right now. And that’s why I love lifestyle photos so much; it’s not just about looking at the camera and smiling. It’s shows more of who you are as a family.

N, the mom, and A, the dad, sat comfortably on their couch while N was holding Baby L during their Leesburg, Virginia at home newborn pictures. A was leaning towards N with his arm on the back of the couch. They were both admiring their precious baby boy. And without any guidance from me, they both just naturally looked at each other and smiled. N giggled, and her eyes sparkled even more as she looked into A’s eyes.

IC, the dad, kissed L, the mom, so tenderly on her forehead as she was holding Baby C in her arms during their lifestyle newborn photos in Haymarket, Virginia. While L was adoringly looking at their newly born baby, IC kissed her again, and again, and again. L just started laughing. The kind of laugh that when you hear gives you all the feels because you can hear the pure joy in it and all the love that’s wrapped all over it.

I thought last year’s fall mini sessions in Loudoun County, VA would be my most challenging mini session to date because of the ongoing event that day that led to increased foot traffic. I was wrong! Last year’s fall mini sessions in Haymarket, Virginia was even more challenging because of the weather. On the days leading up to the mini session, the forecast said that it will rain in the morning; but not the afternoon.

Time really does fly when you’re having so much fun! I tried my best to slow down especially when I took a break from working in summer and later in the year to make memories with my family. But between all the projects I worked on, sessions I did, and being sick, 2022 left like a parent who forgot it’s time to pick up their child from school.
