AT HOME NEWBORN PHOTOGRAPHY BY A FAMILY PHOTOGRAPHER BASED IN FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA
Do you believe that things happen for a reason? I do. ALL. THE. TIME! And I honestly think that it was the case for the lifestyle newborn session that I did for this beautiful growing family.
Last April, I had planned to keep my Memorial Weekend free so I can spend the long weekend with my family. I blocked off my calendar and didn’t book any session or event. Originally, I wanted to go to New York for Memorial Weekend but it didn’t work out. The kids didn’t want to go anywhere, they just want to stay at a hotel with a pool. So my husband and I thought it’s a great time to do a staycation at one of the hotels near us.
On Thursday night before Memorial Weekend, I saw an email from K. I did K’s maternity session last April. She was 38 weeks pregnant when we did her maternity session so it won’t be too long until their baby would be born.
That Thursday night, when she sent me an email, she had shared the amazing news – Baby C was born!!! I honestly couldn’t contain my excitement as soon as I read her email’s subject. I proceeded and read through her email. She and her husband, R, wanted me to come to their house that weekend or the week after to take lifestyle newborn pictures for Baby C and their family.
As you see, had our New York plans worked out, or had the kids wanted to go somewhere out of town, I wouldn’t be able to do their family’s newborn session. We are not going to our hotel until Saturday afternoon of Memorial weekend, so technically, my Saturday morning was still free. I knew right then and there that I cannot miss this; all these things happened for a reason. I did their maternity session last April, and I owe it to them to do their lifestyle newborn session so we scheduled it on that Saturday.
R and O, their four-legged family member, greeted me when I arrived. R and I talked about my business and Baby C’s arrival. Baby C’s arrival couldn’t be any more perfect. She was born the weekend when they had a wedding to attend. So their families were already in town and everybody got to meet her. Shortly after my arrival, I got to meet Baby C too! Carried by her mom, K, baby C, wearing only a diaper, was wide awake and ready for her newborn session. She is so precious!!!
Baby C’s nursery was so fun & colorful. Every little detail was so thought out, from the blanket & valance curtains made by R’s mom from scratch, to the fun lamp they had in there. All of R & K’s stuffed toys as kids were also in Baby C’s nursery all neatly organized in a net they brilliantly hung into one corner of her room.
R & K – Thank you so much for trusting me again to capture another special milestone in your lives. It was truly an honor photographing your family! I had so much fun! I cannot wait to see what other amazing things are in store for your beautiful family! And let me tell you, I almost didn’t believe that Baby C just arrived, YOU GUYS LOOK GREAT!!! And your house is amazingly clean! I remember when I gave birth to my daughter almost 5 years ago, I didn’t look half as good as you, K. And our house had been a mess as soon as we got home from the hospital, and it still is these days. I know there will be hard days, but trust yourselves, you (both) have got this!
‘Til next time,
Belle
