“I’m bored!” One of the things, we, moms, hear every time the kids are home. And it’s not enough for them to say it once; they say it multiple times a day! And despite our best efforts to try to keep them entertained, and even though they have tons of toys and stuff to do; for some reason, they just still feel bored ALL. THE. TIME. I must admit that even though I want them to try to be creative with what they have, sometimes I need to take them out of the house just to shake things up. So if you need ideas for activities to do with them; worry not, because I put together these things to do with kids in Northern Virginia!

Things To Do With Kids in Northern Virginia In Summer

Here are 3 fun things to do with your kids in Northern VA this summer to help make your summer filled with epic memories.

Visit Roer’s Zoofari

Within NoVA’s sprawling woodlands and fields, you’ll find some of the most amazing wildlife native to these 50 states. What better way to see them than at Roer’s Zoofari, the first on my list of fun things to do with kids in Northern VA in summer! Home to various creatures of all shapes and sizes, this zoo and conservation site gives these animals the best care available while putting them on display for all to see. You’ll meet a variety of creatures from around the globe. Anything from zebras and kangaroos to buffaloes and bison are waiting to be discovered. 

Roer’s Zoofari even offers ways to meet these animals up close and personal. Join them for a memory-making private tour where you will feed and pet a cavalcade of creatures in a safe and controlled environment while receiving a wealth of knowledge provided by their expert conservations. If you’re like me and need a minute to breathe, you can sign up for goat yoga. Center yourself and relax while playing with adorable baby goats. Have A Blast At Water Mine

Next on my list of things to do with kids in NoVa is a location that is sure to make a splash. When you’re ready to cool off after a long day in the sun, head on over to Water Mine. Kids and parents of all ages are welcome to swim, splash, and slide any day from 11 am to 6 pm. You’ll find a refreshing amount of slides ranging from 3-foot tall slides to 3-story tall slides. It’s a perfect combination of thrills and spills. 

Afterward, the kids can climb and play around on any of the park’s obstacle courses. They’re a combination of ropes and platform buoys suspended over a comfortably shallow play area of water to make safety the number one priority. Finally, drift in the lazy river that encircles the entire park. Lay back, take in the views, and let the sun wash away your worries to top off the day. Come hang out with Water Mine at 1400 Lake Fairfax Drive.

Take A Relaxing Walk At Frying Pan Park

The final item on my list of fun things to do with kids in Northern Virginia is a historical adventure. As a state, Virginia has a rich history essential to the early American lifestyle that defines how we live today. That’s why it’s always important to learn how settlers and farmers lived back in the 20th century. As a result, you and your kids will be able to have a better appreciation for what you have today. At the same time, there’s nothing wrong with having some serious fun while learning. That’s why you must check out Frying Pan Park: a faithful recreation of farmer life and community during the early 20th century. 

Frying Pan Park has gone out of its way to ensure you experience what a farm, schoolhouse, country store, carousel, and playground were really like way back when while providing all of the amenities of modern society. Each of these locations is always available to host weddings or birthday parties, but Frying Pan has much more to offer. You’ll get to enjoy horseback riding, hiking trails, and wagon rides any day between 9 am and 5 pm. They even host a variety of events celebrating arts, history, music, and American culture just to add to your historical experience. You’ll find Frying Pan Park at 2739 West Ox Road.
