NEWBORN PICTURES IN THE LIVING ROOM

Capturing this living room newborn photography session in Fairfax County, Virginia was so much fun! The weather was very cloudy during these living room newborn photos. But even without the sun, we still managed to get newborn pictures with beautiful lighting! I was so happy with how they turned out. The mom, M, the dad, R, and the big brother, E, were all so excited to welcome baby brother, A, to the family. They were so sweet.

Big brother, E, started off shy in front of the camera. He is two years old and this is very normal. We had a fun dance party and a tickle fight to loosen things up and help him feel relaxed in front of the camera! By the end of the session, he warmed up to it and felt comfortable taking a picture with his family. He also enjoyed his favorite bagel during the newborn photos. I thought that was so adorable! That is a benefit of taking newborn pictures in the living room of your own home – your house, your rules!

Driving to this family’s home for their newborn session brought back so many memories for me. I told M that I used to take this route on my way home from my full time job. The drive reminded me of many car rides with my kids in the back seat. What a small world!

We bonded a lot over being parents! My little boy and big brother, E, have so much in common. They are the same age and both love Blippi! I can relate to my clients’ stage of life. I’ve been there through it all – the late, peaceful nights spent snuggling with the newborn baby on your chest, the joy and fun of the interactive toddler stage and the bittersweetness of them growing so quickly. These moments are so beautiful. It’s why I care so much about capturing families and newborn sessions. This season of life flies by way too fast!

M and R – thank you all so much for trusting me to capture your living room newborn photography session! Your family is absolutely beautiful and your excitement to have your newest family member just shows. It is an honor being a witness to all of these. I enjoyed getting to know you and talking about all things parenthood! Congratulations on your newest addition!
