Earlier this year, I was planning Baby R’s cake smash photos. Throughout his first year of life, I’ve always felt that time flew by. So I thought “Time Flies” would be the perfect theme for his cake smash photos. We did his cake smash pictures at the exact same spot we did my DIY maternity photos last year which is within our neighborhood in Northern Virginia. I’ve always planned to do his cake smash photos by myself, which is what I always do when it comes to our family photos. But I know it will be too stressful for me to plan everything, take his photos, and also be the one to make sure he’s within the setup. So I decided to outsource some of these things. Today, I’m sharing all my favorites from his cake smash session and highlighting all the awesome vendors I got to work with.
TIME FLIES CAKE SMASH SESSION
Let me start by saying that these amazing photos will not be possible without the amazing Alexia of Alexia Ballantine Photography. She has been very easy to work with. I do have a vision of the props that I wanted to use for Baby R’s “Time Flies” cake smash photos but needed help to finalize some little things and she has helped me with that. I appreciate how flexible she is especially since I have a baby who hates car rides (because, pandemic baby), which is why we’ve decided to do his cake smash session in our neighborhood in Northern Virginia. And of course, the photos turned out amazing. I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. 🙂
The hot air balloon was made by none other than Kelly of Bristow Balloons. Working with Kelly has always been a breeze. I’ve worked with her on the nautical themed cake smash photoshoot and unicorn themed cake smash photoshoot. She is literally the most creative person I know. Give her a pair of scissors and scrap materials, and she will turn it into something wonderful. I had no doubt that she will bring my hot air balloon vision to life.
The cake was made by Ashley of Ashley Bakes Cakes. The sky with clouds cake that she made was simply perfect for the “Time Flies” themed cake smash photos. It was exactly what I was hoping for. My older kids and I had some of the cake after Baby R was done with and the cake tastes so good. Ashley also made the adorable cupcake cake for my client’s peach, white, and gold themed cake smash photoshoot.
The faux luggages was from Magical Memories Slumber Party. Didn’t they turn out so cute?! And the luggage stickers were perfect for them. The cake topper and hot air balloon banner were so adorable too! The camera was something I already have but something like this should work just fine. I got the blanket here and the binoculars here.
Let’s talk about Baby R’s outfit. His leather jacket is actually my older son’s. It was a 2T-sized jacket so I was delighted when it fits him. I got his t-shirt here, his aviators here, his aviator hat here, and his pants here. I love how all of these together, props, balloons, & his outfit made for the perfect “Time Flies” cake smash photos. And I couldn’t be more grateful to all the awesome vendors I got to work with for this.
