Backyard Cake Smash Photography in Warrenton, Virginia

These backyard cake smash pictures in Warrenton, VA that I did over the weekend are super special for this family. Not only did Baby F turned 1, but these were also taken at the backyard of a home they just recently moved into. Yup, they were originally from a different state and just moved into the DMV area. Plus, they are also a huge nature lover. How special is that, right?

We did the cake smash photos an hour after sunrise which was perfect because Baby F was in the best mood possible. R, the mom, shared that Baby F was the happiest in the morning so that’s when we’ve scheduled their session for.

I absolutely support R’s choice to keep the photoshoot very minimal. We had a yellow plaid blanket laid on their backyard, a simple yet beautiful cake on a cake stand. And then later on during the session, we used Baby F’s high chair. Keeping the props to a minimum ensures that the focus of the cake smash pictures will be Baby F, which is what I always recommend.

Baby F was a bit hesitant about the cake at first. She hasn’t had cake before so it’s absolutely understandable. Luckily G, their four-legged family member, showed her how to enjoy the delicious cake R ordered for her photos. And of course, we had Mr. Squirrel, Baby F’s favorite stuffy, join us for some of the photos. I love that we got to document everything about this phase of Baby F’s life.

I had a great time with you guys and it was super fun watching Baby F and G in their own world doing their own thing.
