Northern Virginia Mommy and Me Minis

With the recent opening of my Gainesville, VA studio, I am so excited to offer Mommy and Me Minis this spring! You’re probably wondering how these differ from the usual spring and fall mini sessions I offer every year. Let me answer those questions for you.

What are Mommy and Me Minis?

Mommy and Me minis are a type of mini sessions that focus on the love and relationship between a mother and her child/children. They are designed to document the current season of your life – the craziness, the fun, the sweet moments, and the simplicity and beauty of motherhood. I try my best to capture at least 1 photo where everyone is looking at me smiling; but most of the time, I will provide gentle guidance to encourage all of the little personalities to shine through and to allow those sweet gentle moments to unfold.

To all the dads: It is also the best Mother’s Day present for the mom who already has everything. *wink* I know my husband would win husband of the year award if he’d gift me a Mommy and Me mini session for Mother’s Day.

Who will be part of the session?

The Mommy and Me Mini Sessions are for mom and her little loves. Babies, toddlers, little & big kids are all welcome to be part of the photoshoot. This is a good excuse for dad to take a break from photoshoots. You’re welcome, dads! *wink*

How long are these minis?

These minis are only 15-minute long which is perfect for little ones since they normally have a shorter attention span. Your photoshoot will be over before they know it.

Depending on the number of kids that a family has, I might recommend booking 2 spots to ensure that each kid has enough time to spend with mom. That way, no one feels rushed.

Will 15 minutes be enough?

I have been working with families with kids for years and I am skilled in capturing moments in a short amount of time. The sample gallery below are just some of the photos I have taken during a 15-minute Mommy and Me mini session.

What should we wear?

With the beautiful hand-painted pink backdrop that I have, I recommend sticking to light neutrals like whites, beiges, creams, and light grays so that you & your little ones will stand out agains it. If you love some colors, sticking to light colors like baby blue, light yellow, light green, or peach could work too. I would avoid wearing anything pink so that you won’t blend in the background.

Where in Northern Virginia will these be Mommy and Me Minis held?

These will be held in my studio in Gainesville, Virginia. The studio has beautiful natural light coming in with a comfortable seating area, and a bathroom. A changing pad with sheets are also needed if your baby needs a diaper change. Some bribes to get the kids to cooperate are also handy if needed.
