2021 sure was a roller coaster ride. There were a lot of highs like Baby R turning 1 and his adorable time flies cake smash photos done in our neighborhood where we also did my DIY maternity photos back in 2020; launching the TBP Client Closet; meeting tons of new clients & seeing past clients again; being nationally & internationally published as a senior photographer; and 2021 being the busiest & most successful year for TuBelle Photography yet. All that to say, the past year didn’t pass by without any challenges like the virtual learning & home schooling of my kids; and me getting sick a few days before Christmas giving me the loneliest Christmas ever. But, I’m still thankful because it could have been worse. We rang in the new year healthy, happy, loved, and together. And that is all that matters!
As you know, I like to look back and remember all the beautiful memories and priceless milestones that I was able to document for my clients. It’s time for our Best of 2021 post for senior, family, maternity, newborn, cake smash photography, & mini sessions!
This was my very first session of 2021 and it was very special because I also did their maternity photos in Lake RIdge, VA in the fall of 2020. I love watching my client’s family grow. And I’m always so honored that they would always choose me to document their special milestones.
My first cake smash session of the year! All the details planned by mom are just too cute! This session couldn’t have been more perfect!
This 6-month milestone session in Northern VA is so special! We did at the comfort of their home and the photos turned out so beautiful! I love being able to document the little and big milestones so being chosen to do this was something I am very honored to do. One of the Baby K’s dress was from the TBP Client Closet.
My first maternity session of the year, done at a location that turned out to be a favorite for a lot of people. This session couldn’t have been more perfect. The outfit, the location, all the emotions combined together made their photos extra beautiful!
Another special session was a newborn session in Northern VA was done during the first quarter of 2021. I did their maternity photos back in 2019, and then a few months later did their lifestyle newborn session. And last year, we met again to document the arrival of their new family member.
I just LOVE everything about this nautical themed cake smash photos! There’s something about the combinations of red, white, and blue that I just love so much! The cake was done by Ashley Bakes Cakes; and the balloon are was done by Bristow Balloons!
Oh there’s nothing more I love than pastels and baby feet with cake! Haha! This unicorn themed cake smash pictures was everything I’ve ever dreamed! The balloon art by Bristow Balloons was fabulous but didn’t take the focus away from Baby S. And the cake done by Ashley Bakes Cakes perfectly complemented the colors from the balloon art!
Oh this session was so bittersweet! This lifestyle newborn session was done a month before they moved to a different state for good; to be with family! I was able to capture their in home newborn photos when their first baby was born. So while it was amazing seeing them again and being able to document another family milestone of theirs, I was sad that that will be the last time I’ll get to see them. But hey, at least I have these photos right? 🙂
How gorgeous is Alyssa on her senior photos in Nokesville, Virginia? She absolutely rocked her session! And she was the reason (the bottom left photo) why I am now an internationally published senior photographer. I am very grateful that I have a beautiful relationship with my clients. Some of them have become my friends; Alyssa in particular has become a part of our family. She has been babysitting Baby R since the summer of last year. My older kids, A and X, adore her! I don’t know how I would have survived working from home, with all 3 kids at home, while my husband is at work without her.
These 2 brothers killed their senior photos! One of them is a college senior & the other one is a high school senior. Last 2020, I was able to take photos of their younger siblings!
One of my favorite senior photos ever! The outfit, the location, the light, and the pure joy on her face. I just love everything about this session.
These high school best friends were one of the winners of the senior giveaway I had hosted last 2020. One of them went out of the country for the majority of 2020 so we did their photo shoot last year. Their BFF senior photos couldn’t have been more beautiful! We had the best time during their session and I’m so glad I was able to gift them these photos before they were off to college!
2021 was a year I get to watch a lot of my family clients grow their families. K, the mom, has turned to be a good friend of mine. And I’m so honored to have captured their lifestyle newborn photos when Baby C joined their family last year. We met for the first time in 2019 when I first opened my business and I did their family photos in Ashburn, VA. I remember the girls were still so little then and they just came back from their Disney trip. One of the girls were telling all about their adventures & the princesses she saw.
This maternity session is probably one of my favorite maternity sessions ever!!! These 2 were such a beautiful couple, and J, the expecting mom, is just simply glowing! J won the maternity session giveaway I hosted last year; but she was still early in her pregnancy during that time. So we had to wait a few more months before doing her maternity photos in Manassas, VA. J wore 2 of my favorite dresses from the TBP Client Closet and she rocked them!
I had so much fun taking these promo photos for the red truck mini session I was supposed to host last year in fall. But due to a medical emergency, Santa had to take a break for the entire year. But I’ve been in touch with him and he’s doing so well. He’s anticipating to be back to work later this year. So watch out for more information later this year for a much-awaited red truck minis! All families were dressed by the TBP Client Closet!
This maternity photos in Warrenton, VA were also done at Airlie! I’m glad we were able to utilize different parts of the location for their maternity pictures!
Do you believe me now that Airlie has quickly became a favorite of my clients? This gorgeous lady was celebrating a milestone birthday and wanted to document it. And of course, we did it at this beautiful location! She rocked the wrapped dress borrowed from the TBP Client Closet, didn’t she?
Oh the way they look at Baby H is just so special. Actually at some point during this in home newborn session, I caught dad looking at mom in the sweetest way! My heart melted and I’m so glad I was able to capture that for them. Would you believe me when I tell you that it was a gloomy day when we did their photos?
This was probably one of my favorite family photos ever!!! Waking up at 3am to do these family photos in Washington, DC was so worth it! The kids did so well even though we started their session a little before 6am; we were done in a little over 30 minutes. Shortest full family session ever!!!
This was another special and bittersweet session. I did their family photos back in 2020. And then last year, we did their last family pictures here in Virginia at the same location; and then shortly after, they moved out of the state.
These were all the beautiful families I got to meet last year during my Airlie fall mini sessions.
These family photos in Chantilly, VA were taken on a very gloomy Saturday! Regardless, we still had so much fun during their session!
I put together this Christmas mini session promo shoot after learning about the medical emergency that happened with my original planned red truck mini session. I wanted to show my clients what the new Christmas setup will be so they know what to expect. There were a lot of last minute planning to put all of these together but I am so glad with how everything turned out. And my clients loved it!
New families I got to meet and some past clients I got to see again during my Christmas mini session last year.
These were all the seniors & families I got to meet last year during my Chantilly, VA fall mini session!
There were new clients I got to meet and past clients I got to see again during this Sterling, VA fall mini session.
This was my last lifestyle newborn photos for the year! This beautiful family is super laid back! I had the best time with them! Mom, baby, and older sibling borrowed outfits from the TBP Client Closet.
My last session for 2021 is a senior session in Reston, VA! It was a very chilly day, but Kaleigh and I had the best time! She travelled all the way from PA so I can do her senior photos and I will be forever honored and grateful!
It was so much fun looking back at all the beautiful moments I was able to document for all my clients! I will never get tired of saying this – I am so grateful for all the clients who have trusted me and are basically the reason why TuBelle Photography had such a successful year! I can’t wait to see what 2022 has in store for me, for my family, and for my business.

[…] This session was full of laughter and smiles despite the cold. We did a lot of walking and jogging to keep her warmed up! The parking garage was especially chilly. The weather may have been harsh but the session was full of fun. The sunset at the end of the day was absolutely beautiful; and her lyrical dress made it even more so. Kaleigh in this parking garage with this beautiful sunset was the perfect way to end all my 2021 sessions. […]
